Mine came with one crack on the edge that I'm trying to glue back together.Aeroklas are on the cutting edge of canopy manufacturing and development being the first company in the world to offer Engineered ABS Double Shell Canopies. Flexiglass are normally great quality, know a few guys that have them on their tritons and can't fault them. I like how strong that butyl tape is but the foam is tempting too. The FlexiSport Premium canopy provides the perfect canopy integration solution for your vehicle. Probably comes down to if you need to remove it more than once a year. I have a flexiglass canopy on my ml only held by 4 nuts yes it's got a few cracks but not sure if it's the lack of adhesion or just wear ( over 300 k ). I was worried about the space between the cab with flex but once down on the black goop it's hard to move and wants to spring back. Just make sure you spread the load on the fibreglass with a long spacer. We just used bolts instead of the 11mm rivnuts. ( we had to install all windows as well) If it sucks not hard to change. That Tape is dam strong/ sticky I would try a dense foam or a compressible rubber first. Grox wrote:I helped neighbour install one last week. A guy at TJM said that he just puts foam tape and then a bead of silicone along the foam tape and then places the canopy down and bolts it. Apparently its pretty normal for canopies to develop leak problems. I've been stripping it off the second hand tub with a scraper and it is strong stuff.ĭo you think I need to find something like this or will what you described suffice? 1 Hi guys Recently installed a second gand flexiglass canopy to the back of my collie, and just got rain for the first time since installing it, to fine it leaks like a bh. I think how TJM do it is they have a strip of this adhesive silicone-like tape that they apply to the edge of the tub and then place the canopy on top which then squeezes the adhesive outwards. Did you stick the adhesive side onto the tub edge or the bottom edge of the canopy? Can supply photos if you need.Ĭheers mate. Dieselweasel wrote:Sorry, should have said it was adhesive on one side.
